About Me

Hello! Thanks for taking a look at my site. My name is Tim and I’m wrapping up my Bachelor’s of Applied Arts in Interior Design at Bellevue College (graduating June 2017).

Prior to studying interior design, I worked my way up in the construction industry from entry-level laborer to carpenter, assistant superintendent, project engineer and finally to estimator. During those years, I obtained a degree in Construction Management. However, I always dreamed of studying architecture. In mid-2013, in a most serendipitous way, I found myself in conversation with the chair of the Interior Design program at Bellevue College. He encouraged me to look into design as a course of study. My knowledge of the field was virtually nill at the time, but curiosity got the best of me and, after an art class and an introductory interior design course, I knew I’d found the path I’d been searching for. I enrolled in the program and never looked back. Surprisingly, the nature and extent of some of the projects I was exposed in my construction career have given me an edge in much of my design coursework. I look forward to bringing all my skills and experience together in my new career.

I’m more, however, than just a carpenter-gone-designer. I’m quite adept with an array of software programs and I have experience working in an art gallery. With students as clients at Bellevue College and Seattle Pacific University, I’m a private tutor for SketchUp and Revit. I’m also a paid teaching assistant at Bellevue College for the Revit course. I’ve been using SketchUp for about 11 years now and have a blast helping students improve their skills. Revit, InDesign, Photoshop and the Microsoft Office Suite are just a few of the programs in my skillset. The art gallery experience provided me the opportunity to use my design eye to help setup the various art installations and gallery showings hosted throughout the year.

While in school, I’ve been a board member of IDSA (Interior Design Student Association) and a student member of IIDA (International Interior Design Association) Northern Pacific chapter. I’m currently acting Treasury Chair for the Puget Sound Campus Council for IIDA and am on the IIDA Advocacy committee. My downtime is usually spent outdoors. I enjoy hiking, running and cycling and enthusiastically supporting our Seahawks.
